TradeMalta preparing SMEs for Internationalisation

TradeMalta has just organised a training course for SMEs interested in going international.  Twenty companies are enrolled on this programme, called Go Global.  Overall the programme supports the participating companies with an export readiness report, a training course on the key skills necessary for internationalisation and financial assistance to generate export leads.  Enrolled companies in the programme are involved in sectors ranging from software, engineering, alternative energy, manufacturing and aviation.
Panel discussions were also organised to provide enrolled companies with an opportunity to learn from the experience of companies that are already successful in international markets.  During the panel discussion, senior management personnel from Farsons, Gutenberg Press, Shield Consultants and Altaro Software and the participant companies were given the opportunity to questions on the many challenges typically faced by SMEs during the early stages of internationalisation.  Among the salient points which came out of the panel discussion, were issues of business planning, generating leads creatively, managing relationships and participating in networks as well as recruiting key personnel and using digital presence.  The panel discussion was supported by HSBC Bank Malta plc.
