Trade Council established between Malta and North America

Malta’s embassy in Washington D.C. has launched a Trade Council for Malta and North America during a virtual meeting, presided by Ambassador Keith Azzopardi. The Council is composed of twelve Maltese American/Canadian persons and also of Americans and Canadians from different business sectors.

The Council is aimed at providing advice on trade opportunities of interest to Malta, to work with Maltese relevant entities, to identify sectors of trade and technology opportunities for Malta and to promote financial and industrial investment for Malta. Other aims of the council are to facilitate trade opportunities for Maltese companies and those based in Malta to seek new niche opportunities in North America and to facilitate contacts between Maltese and North American businesses.

Ambassador Azzopardi said that “the aim of the council is to create joint efforts and assists Maltese relevant entities to enhance Maltese economic development in order to further promote Malta as an ideal trading centre in the United States and Canada”.

Participants in the virtual meeting included Malta Enterprise CEO Kurt Farrugia, Anton Buttigieg CEO of Trade Malta, Dana Farrugia CEO Tech Malta, Finance Malta chairman Rudolph Psaila, the Chief Operating Officer of Gaming Malta Ivan Filletti, Johann Buttigieg CEO Malta Tourism Authority and Stephen McCarthy, Malta Digital Innovation Authority’s CEO.
